  1. Start a new script or import a draft

    Every detected slugline appears in the scene rail. Jump between locations during a rewrite and watch the live scene count, word count, and approximate page count without leaving the screenplay editor.

  4. Check the screenplay structure

    Run the format checker to find malformed scene headings, incomplete parentheticals, misplaced dialogue, and other structural problems. Apply only the safe automatic fixes, then review any creative choices yourself.

  5. Export a portable backup

    Download Fountain for an open, plain-text screenplay; FDX for compatible screenwriting programs; TXT for a universal copy; or PDF for a formatted reading draft. Export regularly if the script matters—local autosave is convenient, but a separate backup is safer.
