Terms of Use
Effective and last updated: September 13, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Screenplay Writer: Zen Writer mobile applications, Zen Writer for Mac, and related website services (the “Service”) provided by Ashish Rattan / Elevantus (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to apps obtained from the App Store: Apple EULA.
1. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service on devices you own or control. A Zen Writer for Mac lifetime license may be active on up to three Macs at a time. You may use screenplays created with the Service for personal or commercial work. You may not resell, share, publish, or circumvent a license key or the software itself.
2. Subscriptions and purchases
- Zen Writer is free to use with one screenplay and watermarked exports. Optional Pro features are offered as a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Zen Writer for Mac is also sold directly as a $69.99 USD lifetime license. It is a one-time payment, is not a subscription, and does not expire.
- Mobile in-app payments are charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Direct Mac payments are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record, and applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase. Canceling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple, Google, or Dodo Payments processes them according to the checkout you use.
- For a direct Mac purchase, the license key is delivered after successful payment. Refund requests are handled according to applicable law and the payment provider’s policies; contact support with the payment receipt.
3. Your content
Your screenplays remain yours. You are responsible for the scripts you write and for any files you import or export. Files selected in the website's free tools are uploaded to and stored by Zen Writer as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service — for example, by interfering with its operation or using it to create content that is unlawful or infringing.
5. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. If we discontinue a paid feature, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ashish Rattan and Elevantus shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.
